Merger fears drive push for union at Delta
Article Abstract:
The Assn of Flight Attendants is trying to unionize Delta Air Lines' flight attendants as a result of airline merger mania. After the announcement in May 2000 that US Airways and United Airlines were merging, there was news that other major airlines, including Delta, were also consolidating. The labor organization is convincing the flight attendants at Delta that a labor contract is the only way to protect them against such eventuality. However, Delta's employees are not concerned over the rumored merger since the airline has been through three merger- acquisitions and not a single flight attendant has lost a job.

Delta, union appear to avert strike
Article Abstract:
Delta Air Lines and its pilots union, the Air Line Pilots Assn, have reached a tentive agreement on Apr 22, 2001, that would give pilots the richest paychecks in the industry and avert the threat of a nationwide strike. A strike on Apr 29, 2001, would have grounded the USA's third leading airline and stranded hundreds of thousands of passengers a day, especially at Delta's hub in Atlanta, GA. The deal goes to pilots for a vote.
