The Association of National Advertisers in the 12th Trends in Agency Compensation report has found contracts between advertisers and agencies based pay more on performance rather than the traditional 15% fixed commission. Association president John J. Sarsen Jr. noted that agencies are changing from being media driven to being consumer driven. In shaky economic times, ad agencies are being held more accountable.

The U.S. Postal Service is scaling back their ad budget to about $100 million (from $140 million) for 2002 and losing the American eagle as an icon. Burnett USA has been hired to imagine a new campaign featuring the collection box and aimed toward executives and owners of businesses touting global services and a new partnership with FedEx. Burnett joins Foot, Cone, A Partnership, Bravo Group, Chischolm-Mingo Group, and Frankel to boost the Postal Service's image.
