Native groups want ruling overturned

The Innu Nation and the Labrador Inuit Assn have appealed to the Federal Court of Canada to reverse a ruling by the Canadian federal government permitting Voisey's Bay Resources Inc to proceed with its nickel project without land claims settlements or impact and benefit agreements. An environment review panel had recommended that the $1.1 billion project should not be allowed to commence without settlement agreements between the native groups and the government.
