Natural resources drive TSX
Article Abstract:
A brief description on the financial condition of the Toronto Stock Exchange Market (TSX) for the year 2004 with reference to the companies from the industrial, telecom, natural resources, and the healthcare sectors is presented. While the energy sectors reported strong financial conditions throughout the year, health care could not live up to the expectations and reported the fall in the index by 17.4 percent.

How Sprott scored big in 2004

The $577-million Sprott Canadian Equity Fund, a bifurcated mix of conservative holdings and higher-risk stocks reported gains of 20 percent or more in 2004 where only a handful of the more than 600 Canadian stock funds were surveyed. Sprott is regarded as a research-driven company that would invest money into little-known firms with tremendous potential.

The performance of stocks on Toronto Stock Exchange is discussed. The stocks returned to 10,000 mark after nearly 63 months since March 2000. The implications of the breach of the psychological barrier by S&P/TSX composite index are analyzed.
