Newbridge boss joins million-dollar club

Newbridge Networks Corp has released a management proxy circular showing the multimillion dollar salary of its president Alan Lutz. The documents showed that Lutz was paid C$1.7 milion in FY99. The compensation package consisted of a base salary of C$1.02 million, a bonus of C$202,923, another C$202,923 to acquire Newbridge shares and an additional C$273,966 for expenses related with his transfer to Canada. Lutz was hired in May 1998 and came from Compaq Computer Corp.

GM eyes $2-billion investment in plant revamps
Article Abstract:
General Motors of Canada Ltd. is seeking financial help from the Ontario and Ottawa governments for an investment of up to Can$2-billion to revamp two assembly plants and increase the company's research and development activities. The investment would help in turning the automaker's two plants in Oshawa, Ontario, into more flexible car assembly units with multiple models succeeding one or more platforms.
