Nortel breaks market value record

Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp. has reached a market capitalization of $203.6 billion, the first Canadian company to break the $200 billion level. Nortel, which is a telecommunications equipment maker, leads Montreal, Que.-based BCE Inc., which has a market capitalization of $86.4 billion.

Nortel CEO cashes in on new capital gains rule

John Roth, the chief executive officer of Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp., has cashed in stock options for $20.7 million. Mr. Roth took advantage of a new Canadian capital gains tax rules law, which allowed him savings of almost $1 million.

Nortel to hire 1,250 as part of Ottawa expansion
