Nortel fires 7, slashes jobs as it refocuses its operations

Nortel Networks Corp. is cutting jobs in its restructuring strategy, adding new position reporting directly to the chief executive officer, streamlining its divisions, and attempting to regain bonuses from fired employees. This would reduce annual expenses by between $450 million and $500 million to which investors responded favorably raising the stock from Canadian $4.3% to $4.85.
