Nortel to delay fibre-optic spinoff

Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp., which is led by chief executive officer John Roth, has announced that it will postpone the spinoff of its fiber optic component unit. Nortel, which is the leading telecommunications equipment maker in the world, said that market conditions are not favorable for an initial public offering.
