Calgary, Alb.-based Alberta Energy Company Ltd. and Calgary, Alb.-based Nexen Inc. are reducing capital outlays in 2002 as part of cost-cutting strategies. The oil and gas industry has been hurt by falling prices and demand as the economy slows down.
