Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce paid for an insurance policy of $36,000 to skier Thomas Grandi to boost CIBC's brand value and improve the bank's chances of winning sponsorship rights for the Vancouver Games in 2010. His win would help Alpine Canada land more sponsors in the Olympics coming to Canada in 2010.
