Shoppers Drug Mart put on block for at least $2.1 billion

Drugstore chain Shoppers Drug Mart Ltd has been put up for sale for at least C$2.1 billion. The sale of Shoppers is part of a complex deal involving British American Tobacco PLC's (BAT) acquisition of the 58% it does not already own in Imasco Ltd. BAT intends to keep the lucrative tobacco operation and sell Imasco's other assets including Shoppers Drug Mart, CT Financial Services Inc and Genstar Development Co.
