Online media struggle to recover from spring beating
Article Abstract:
Waning investment interest in Internet-based and new-media companies at US stock exchanges in spring 2000 are causing online newsrooms to experience cash shortages and to implement cost-cutting measures and cutbacks. This is evident in news reports about online media firms which have either postponed initial public offerings, reorganized, gone out of business or laid off employees. San Francisco, CA-based market researcher Webmergers.com's president, Tim Miller, believes that the financial markets will begin to return some funding to surviving online media companies by early 2001.

Internet's future is screwed on tight
Article Abstract:

In 2000, more than 100 Internet startups ceased operating and nearly 40,000 dot-com jobs were lost. Yet, there are more Internet users than ever before in more countries than ever before.
