Qwest, IBM to team on e-commerce

Qwest Communications and IBM have created a partnership to provide services to online businesses. The alliance combines Qwest's data network with IBM's Web site management services. The partners envision providing a host of services rangin from putting small enterprises online to managing complex systems, such as corporate supply networks or online brokerages. Web hosting is projected to become a $35-billion-a-year market by 2005, according to consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.

Online shopping comes to wireless

Online retailer Amazon.com and wireless phone company Sprint PCHS have launched a service that would allow consumers to use wireless phones to shop over the Internet. Sprint PCS subscribers who use their phones to shop on Amazon are presented with a series of menus including the best- seller lists and other popular features. Amazon is also negotiating with other wireless companes about offering similar services.
