Sydney solicitor Ray Whitten restructured management at Queensland Opals (QOP), and his cost-cutting measures should show a profit by June, 1999. Whitten expects QOP's stock to produce a net return in 1999-2000 of 3 cents a share. The company says its project at Lucky Mine contains sufficient reserves to last 5 years.
