Between 1990 and 2000, union memberships in Australia dropped by nearly 30%, and current union coverage includes only 25% of Australia's workforce. The unions are trying to reinvent themselves in order to attract more members, and they are donating significant resources to supporting the Australian Labor Party (ALP) in the current national election.
