This article examines the possibility of a New Politics in Australia in which the political parties there undergo a fundamental realignment. Relevant points include intimations that the Australian Democrats and their leader, Meg Lees, may switch their support to Prime Minister John Howard's Liberal government in exchange for a share of power after having long been associated with the opposition Labor party.
