Article Abstract:
African refugees in Australia, of which Sudanese form more than half the number face many problems like cultural shock, their past violence catching up, racial and communal clashes and the difficulty in getting a good job or educational qualification. The Australian government has given them asylum and has a reputation for settling them but the refugees are finding it very difficult to merge with the locals and adjust to the new circumstances.

Micheline Van Hautem, a New York chanteuse and Frederick Caelen, a Belgian musician are making cabaret and the accordion sexy again, with the help of songs of the great Jacques Brel. Since the release of their 2001 CD, 'Songs of Jacques Brel, they have toured more with other members of Micheline's band Mich en Scene and their core audiences are in Northern Europe.

An exhibition on the historical art of the Cape York Peninsula is put on display at the Queensland Art Gallery in Australia. The purpose of the exhibition is to attract young aboriginal people towards this existing art that depicts their stories.
