Article Abstract:
Lindsay Tanner, the Labour party's shadow finance minister, has written a book, "Open Australia," calling for the reform of his party. He criticizes branch stacking and the prevalence of factions in the party. Recognised as a bright political thinker, Tanner makes a persuasive argument for reform, but he ignores the problem of personality-based allegiances in the party.
