Philip lawsuits combined in U.S
Article Abstract:
Philip Services Corp. of Hamilton, Canada, will be facing combined class-action suits as the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, which is based in Washington, US, decided on Jun. 4, 1998, to combine a minimum of 13 class-action suits that were filed by investors of Philip Services. The combined class-action suits will be tried together in court in the Southern District of New York in New York City. Aside from the 13 class-action lawsuits, the Judicial Panel commented that six other lawsuits will be regarded as possible tag-along actions. The suits assert that Philip Services misstated in 1997 the company's financial status to its shareholders.
