Plan ahead: most hotels have room for a good deal

Room rates of hotels have reached their highest level since 1990 and are at an average of $85 a night as of 2000. Many hotels are experiencing high occupancy rates, making it quite difficult for business travelers to obtain a good, reasonably-priced hotel room at short notice. However, business travelers may opt to use the services of hotel room consolidators especially in larger or popular cities. Furthermore, many major hotels generally offer special corporate rates to any business traveler. A number of other suggested tips will enable travelers to cut hotel bills.

General Mills to acquire Pillsbury for $10.5B
Article Abstract:
Pillsbury Co, the US-based food unit of UK-based Diageo, will be acquired by General Mills Inc for $10.5 billion in cash and stocks. The deal, which will create the biggest publicly traded food manufacturer in the US, will also give Diageo a 33% share in the combined company. Under the terms of the agreement, which will increase General Mills' yearly revenue to $13 billion, $4.5 billion of Pillsbury's debt will be assumed by General Mills.
