The Australian Productivity Commission will release a report concerning the future of broadcasting in the digital age in Sep 1999. The Commission is expected to propose speeding up the eight-year analog-digital simulcast television period to allow the release of spectrum for new competition. The Commission must balance the need for an efficient broadcasting system with maintaining diverse programming.
