The smuggling of embargoed diamonds from African countries that are experience prolonged civil wars has prompted Canadian authorities to increase their anti-smuggling operations. Industry analysts said that the illicit diamond trade, which occurs on the black market, has the potential to damage Canada's international reputation.

Canada gets more smuggled Chinese

The Toronto Police admit that illegal Chines immigrants have been entering Canada on a regular basis despite assurances from the Chinese government that they would take steps to halt the illicit trade. A source stated that as many as 300 persons have entered the country illegally since September.
