Some dot-coms back out of Super Bowl

Several online services firms already expressed that they will cancel advertisement commitments with ABC for the telecast of the Super Bowl. In their place are huge companies such as Microsoft, which plans to promote its e-business consulting services through the telecast. Among the dot-com firms that decided to back out from the advertisements are ScreamingMedia.com and Angeltips.com.

Beverage titans ram dot-com rivals
Article Abstract:
Beverage companies defeated their dot-com rivals in USA Today's 12th annual Ad Meter survey. Veteran Super Bowl marketers Anheuser-Busch and Pepsi dominated the survey, placing in four of the top five spots. Although the dot-coms were routed in the Ad Meter, Pets.com managed to finish in the top five. Other first-time marketers for the SuperBowl who took top spots included Oxygen Media, Motorola and EDS.

Priceline's campy ads polarize audience
Article Abstract:
USA Today publication's Ad Track report has found that Internet buying service Priceline.com's latest television advertising campaign, which features actor William Shatner, has polarized viewers although the 10 ad spots can be considered a hit by most standards. The ads feature Shatner playing either a rock band performer, rapper, folk singer and beat poet. The Ad Track poll found that only 14% of the respondents said they liked the ads a lot, 26% disliked them but 25% called the ads very effective.
