Prison health care: Legal aid
Article Abstract:
Major initiatives to improve correctional health care have come from judicial courts, and not from legislators or the public, and the major role of lawsuits is to ensure that prisoners get access to at least some health care. Example of the 1976 landmark case, Estelle vs. Gamble, that established prisoners' constitutional right to health care is cited, however, the two common themes in the cases involving access to care are lack of resources, and security interfering with medical treatment.

HPV vaccine: Congressional action
Article Abstract:
A bill introduced in Congress is designed to discourage states from mandating the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, and also to prohibit the use of federal funds for the purpose. While the development of a HPV vaccine is welcomed, lawmakers believe that its administration should be overseen by parents and physicians, and not state governments.
