Prisoner on our conscience

Article Abstract:

The hypocrisy of the Australian criminal justice system is that prisons must severely punish offenders, yet in order to be released, a prisoner must show rehabilitation. This is made clear in cases of child sexual abuse, where public opinion brands a pedophile a deviant for life. Legislation should be passed to note that all criminals are not equal before the law and there needs to be consistency in handling offenders.

Article Abstract:

An assessment is presented on mandatory pregnancy tests for women job applicants and the atmosphere of discrimination fostered by such policies. Suggestions for equitable mitigation are also discussed, such as blood pressure and cholesterol tests for employees with poor or risky lifestyle habits.
