Pulling for Putin

The Russian Presidential elections scheduled in the year 2004 seems to be one sided with his main opposition candidate also maintaining that incumbent President Putin is the best candidate for the job. There is however only one serious candidate in the form of Irina Khakamada who has asked the president many uncomfortable questions about the various hostage crises in the country and she wants to know whether the president will accept responsibilities for various attacks that has left scores killed or injured.

Putin versus big oil
Article Abstract:
Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan to raise oil taxes indicates his decision to avoid the restraints of big business but not many are sure whether he can manage this decision. Oil industry officials however say that they are being targeted for no reason and suggest that the Putin government should keep a watch on tax evaders, many of who enjoy government patronage.
