Rate hikes loom as jobs boom: Canadian, U.S. employment market gains in May blow through economists' forecasts
Article Abstract:
The Canadian economy increased 56,000 jobs in May 2004 that dropped the unemployment rate to 7.2 percent, which observers believe would prompt the Bank of Canada to raise interest rates. The U.S. economy added 248,000 jobs during May 2004 that made it a virtual certainty, which the economists predict, the Federal Reserve Board would hike rates at the end of June 2004.
