The possibility of generation of a national ID system for gun owners, due to a decrease in the unauthorized immigration led to the need of a national registration card for the gun owners, with national ID card. Though the idea provoked the gun-owners' opposition, it was still implemented for some time but finally was replaced by the Immigrant Responsibility Act.

The Real ID Act issued in America also targets on a making one's identification more secure. This is done in order to make sure that foreigners with proper authorization to stay and work in the country are only present, hence reducing the crime rates in the state.
