The leading corporations and CEOs on the list of up-and-coming performers in terms of return on stockholder equity all are focused on single industries. Darin Walters and Blackmores (a health and dietary supplement marketer) generated at 30.15% return, followed on the list by Mark Cutifani and Sons of Gwalia (a gold and tantalum miner) at 21.58%. The other firms on the list are developer AV Jennings (18.75%) and TAB Ltd (14.24%).

Australia's Department of Defence has thousands of defence manufacturing companies on contract as subcontractors or suppliers, but the defence industry is now experiencing a rationalisation that will affect 30,000 jobs and over 10,000 companies. Companies believe there are too many prime contractors within the industry and that the Australian defence industry should interact with foreign companies to achieve integration.
