Rogers to launch Internet phones

Cable giants Rogers Communications Inc. will innovate telephone service in Toronto and its suburbs in 2005 using Internet-based standards. However, Internet-based phone service, which is also being introduced by Shaw Communications Inc. in Alberta and British Columbia, threatens to thoroughly shake up existing order in the local phone market, which was dominated by former telephone monopolies such as Bell and Vancouver-based Telus Corp.

More fraud alleged at MCI
Article Abstract:
The telephone company which was formerly known as WorldCom Inc., Ashburn, Va.-based MCI, is under investigation by the U.S. government for allegations of fraud. MCI is being investigated for allegations that it improperly routed phone calls to avoid paying fees.
