Democratic Presidential candidates Bill Clinton and Paul Tsongas encountered problems in economically distressed Michigan. Jerry Brown gained the most enthusiastic support, particularly among union members. Pres Bush and challenger Pat Buchanan were not enthusiastically received by voters.
