Article Abstract:
Air Canada issued a warning that Onex Corp's bid to merge Air Canada and Canadian Airlines International Ltd is a move aimed to circumvent government rules on share concentration and foreign ownership of protected industries. If approved, Onex's proposal could greatly impact other industries that are protected by federal rules. While Air Canada is protesting Onex's hostile bid, other protected Canadian industries said they would be open for any opportunity to secure more exposure in the international scene.
