Quebec separatist leaders Jacques Parizeau, Mario Dumont and Lucien Bouchard launched the referendum campaign in Aug 1995, by emphasizing that Quebec will continued to maintain ties with Canada. A recent poll revealed only 6% believe sovereignty is the most important issue facing Quebec.
