STRONG SUPPORT IS FOUND FOR BAN ON GAY MARRIAGE
Article Abstract:
A new New York Times/CBS News poll finds that 55% of Americans support a constitutional amendment that would limit the right of marriage to a man and woman. This presents a challenge to Democratic presidential candidates who support gay rights. These new poll numbers would give Pres. Bush a platform on which to appeal to his conservative supporters although he knows that an amendment would not get through Congress. The increased resistance to gay marriage seems to have been impacted by recent state court decisions that allow gays to marry or pursue civil unions.

Gore's Endorsement Was Won Over Time and Under the Radar
Article Abstract:
Former VP Al Gore and 2000 presidential candidate nominee surprised the Democratic Party with his decision to break his neutrality and endorse Howard Dean. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who was Gore's running mate in 2000, had expected the former vice president to support his effort to become the 2004 Democratic nominee. Gore's endorsement was important to the Dean campaign which had sought it for the past year.
