Australian deputy prime minister John Anderson's decision to move his family back to his rural family property is seen as a message to the people of his rural seat of Gwydir. Gwydir may no longer be a safe seat and Anderson seems to be showing that he has gone back to his roots in rural Australia.

An analysis on the result in the Aston by-election in Australia does not reflect well for the Labor Party. Kim Beazley was pleased with the 3.67% swing to his party, but the research shows this was negligible and many traditional voters abandoned the party.
