Safety testers pay $20,000 above sticker for Cruisers
Article Abstract:
Chrysler Corp's PT Cruisers are so in-demand in the market that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had to pay $20,125 above the sticker price in order to get two of the vehicles for testing. The NHTSA, who had earlier planned a fall 2000 testing for the mini- minivan, was forced to acquire the vehicles after the car's popularity resulted in an overwhelming request from consumers for the agency to give the vehicle a safety score.
