Settlement bid aniticpated in Microsoft case
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp is expected to offer on Mar 24, 2000 a settlement bid in connection with the antitrust case against it. The software giant is most likely to make a far-reaching proposal to avoid hundreds of class-action suits that would most probably result from a decision against the company. Another reason is that the company is expecting to lose the antitrust case, which is near a final ruling.

Scales tip in favor of justice: out-of-court settlement possible as finding of fact 'creams' Microsoft
Article Abstract:
Federal judge Thomas Penfield Jackson has upheld the view that Microsoft Corp used its market dominance to monopolize the software industry. The antitrust ruling raises the possibility of the software giant's breakup or an out-of-court settlement. The case has pulled down Microsoft stock by almost 5% to $87 1/16 on Nov 5, 1999. A further 6% decline in Microsoft stock is expected to pull down other technology stocks.
