Manulife Financial Corp. is expected to buy itself a portion of exposure to scandal-plagued Parmalat Finanzaria SpA as part of its $15-billion acquisition of US life insurer John Hancock Financial Services Inc. Boston-based Hancock holds $152-million (US) in public and private bonds issued by Parmalat, a multinational dairy products giant.
