Seagram-Vivendi all but a done deal

Montreal, Que.-based Seagram Company Ltd. may soon be acquired by France's Vivendi SA. Vivendi, which is negotiating the final terms for the Canadian liquor and motion picture company, will also include its Canal Plus SA in a three-way merger.

Seagram deal in final phase

A three-way merger between Montreal, Que.-based Seagram Company Ltd., France's Vivendi and Canal Plus S.A. is nearly complete. The deal, which will be made in stock, has valued Seagram's at $33 billion.
