Seidler's Viennese vision
Article Abstract:
Australian architect Harry Seidler, who fled Vienna, Austria, during the Nazi persecution of the 1930s, returned to Vienna in the late 1990s to design a community complex of apartments, shops, a community center, and cinema. Seidler congratulated the Viennese government for their support of the project and for their understanding of the importance of architecture in social life. Seidler believes Australia's government oversight of architectural projects is not as supportive or comprehensive.
