Eric Head had set up Gold Disk Canada Inc. in June 1998 running the company out of his parent's home by selling e-mail addresses to marketers around the world at prices reaching as high as $1,600 for 10 million names. Yahoo Inc. accused the Heads of being the largest spammers and sued Eric, his brother Matthew and their father.

Mellon Global Securities Services Co., a transfer agent co-owned by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has agreed to pay $6 million (U.S.) to settle allegations by Mellon Financial Corp. on a fraudulent stock scheme. Details of the scam are discussed.
