SkyTel pagers to offer MSNBC news
Article Abstract:
MSNBC on the Internet is teaming up with SkyTel to provide online newscasts to the latter's pager subscribers. The deal will allow SkyTel customers to choose as much as five free newscasts from categories that include national and world news, financial markets, technology, business, entertainment, sports and weather. The MSNBC Web site will provide SkyTel subscribers, with one- or two-way text pagers, newscasts of a maximum 1,000 characters. SkyTel, which has already offered news services, is competing with PageNet on the Internet-based newscasts.

American dominance of the Internet is no longer assured as the rest of world is increasing its use of the Internet and has begun to challenge the US in terms of customer and employees. By mid-2001, it is predicted that there will be more Internet users in Europe than in the US. Internet entrepreneurs who were trained in the US have started to return to their home countries and have formed Internet-based businesses.
