Soaring gasoline prices prompt more pump-and-runs
Article Abstract:
More gasoline stations throughout the US are becoming victims of motorists who drive off without paying for their gasoline in "fill-and-run" cases. To prevent being victimized, gasoline dealers have resorted to asking customers to pay or present a credit card in advance, a procedure deales and motorists both dislike because of the inconvenience. Dealers say the resentment against them is misplaced because higher gasolines prices are not their fault and that they are also suffering.
