Soaring prices for natural gas hit consumers
Article Abstract:
The prices of natural gas have soared amidst forecasts of further rate increases in winter 1999. Natural gas prices are at a 15-year peak, rising by 40% in the last five months. The summer's price spike has been attributed to a number of factors including the tightened gas supplies across Western Canada and the growing demand for natural gas from the US. Gas prices usually drop during the summer because of reduced demand from business and homes during the warm period.
