States act to keep drug prices down
Article Abstract:
Forty US states have introduced legislative proposals aimed at reining in drug spending. The proposals range from asking drug manufacturers for additional rebates on Medicaid health programs to requiring manufacturers to lower drug prices for the poor and elderly. The most significant action was taken by the state of Maine, which received federal approval to let state residents with incomes of up to 300% of the federal government level buy drugs at a discount.
