Stentor alliance 'unravelling.'
Article Abstract:
Bell Canada's plans to introduce a new national venture in September 1998 comes amidst the disintegration of the Stentor alliance of Canada's provincial telephone firms. Stentor was founded in the early 1990s as a national, marketing, lobbying and coordinating entity of the industry. Industry observers say that Bell, which is the biggest member of the 10-member alliance, could lure large corporate clients from Stentor with its high-speed data network. They further assert that Stentor is weak due to internal squabbles that prevent it from offering the same prices and services for large customers.
