TSE fails to keep lid on companies' trading

The Toronto Stock Exchange was sent into an uproar by news of Montreal, Que.-based BCE Inc. proposed $73 billion spin off of Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp. BCE, which is led by president and chief executive officer Jean Monty, had a difficult time keeping the deal under wraps as the news spread through worldwide stock markets.

CDNX trading shifts to TSE
Article Abstract:
The Toronto Stock Exchange, which acquired Calgary, Alb.-based Canadian Venture Exchange for $50 million in 2001, has announced that its computers have taken over trading for CDNX. The shift from CDNX's old computers was part of the stock exchanges' cost-cutting startegy.
