TSE president foresees single Canadian stock exchange
Article Abstract:
Toronto Stock Exchange Pres. Rowland Fleming announced that there is a possibility of a merger between the three specialized stock exchanges into a single entity. TSE is supporting the reorganization of Canada's capital markets, forming a single Canadian exchange with regional offices in different cities across the country. The specialization plan would involve Montreal Exchange taking over all the derivatives trading in Canada, the TSE to become the central exchange for blue-chip stocks, and the merged Vancouver and Calgary exchange to handle junior issues.
