Thomson swaps four dailies in U.S
Article Abstract:
Thomson Newspapers is exchanging four small daily newspapers in Ohio and Pennsylvania for Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper with a circulation of about 23,000 from Ogden Newspapers Inc. The deal calls for Nutting Newspapers Inc. to get dailies from Thomson, which in turn will also receive an undisclosed amount of cash. Oshkosh Northwestern is located in Wisconsin and is in circulation for 130 years. Thomson senior vice-president of operations Thomas Hay said the firm can consolidate resources to develop regional products and advertisers and turn out higher quality newspapers by merging properties into strategic marketing groups and divesting non-geographical fit.
