Many Canadian school districts are offering innovative services and support groups for poor families in an attempt to boost academic performance early in life. The schools frequently form partnerships with social service and law enforcement agencies to stop gang activity and encourage excellence.

Poetry and patriotism: Stompin' Tom chronicles the national dream

Stompin' Tom Connors has performed many songs that praise Canada since 1964. Connors retired in 1976 because not enough effort was done to promote Canadian patriotism by the music industry. He emerged from retirement in 1989.
